Press article

When we meet certain people, we know at first glance that their life has been rich, intense, even harmonious. Such is the case with Francesca Guerrier, who shines with an uncommon enthusiasm. It must be said that this sculptor seemed destined for an artistic career, as she is the only daughter of painter Francis Montagnier and the wife of Raymond Guerrier. Both men had a decisive influence on her: while her father introduced her to engraving with a burin, it was her husband who nurtured her passion for pottery.

As a young girl, she was first a drawing teacher; as a young bride, she devoted herself to ceramics. It was Guidette Carbonel, in her studio in Meudon, who taught her to model and to work with slabs of enameled lava. Later, at her home in the Alpilles, she created dishes in chamotte clay—earth mixed with already-fired material—better suited to thick pieces, finished after firing with either a matte or glossy glaze. Horses, fish, birds—figurative or abstract—adorned these dishes. Then came pots, sculptures, and unique creations she called “pebble forms,” white shapes highlighted in black. Afterwards came the series of faces, which she sculpted in the same manner as the pots, most often in black, followed by the series of figures.

Francesca Guerrier does not escape the law of eternal return… and her career has led her quite naturally back to gouache and pencil drawing. While her latest sculptures evoked solitude, peace, forgiveness, and prophecy, Francesca’s tapestries and paintings draw inspiration from Genesis, the Apocalypse, the Old and the New Testament.

An astonishing woman, this “warrior” who describes herself as hardly a believer, yet whose works draw their deepest inspiration from the Bible… Seeing her radiance, one is tempted to paraphrase Cyrano: even if she does not believe in Him, surely God must know her well.

Marie-Claire Blanckaert, novembre 2001.

Nature

To plant a feather, to sow a seed, to evoke the stars—these are for me acts of resistance, of excess; it is to write a story, to live the beauty of a dream. It is to seek the essential, one’s relationship with others, one’s harmony with Mother Nature.

I do not model my sculptures; I work from a sheet of metal that I cut and shape. By honoring the material, respecting its energy, its tension, its possible curvature, I reach balance, harmony, and there I rediscover nature.

And it is she—in her purity but also her complexity—who is my first source of inspiration. Curves, moons, trajectories, and above all spirals, so often present in nature, from seashells to galaxies, are my script. I do not seek abstraction, but rather to draw closer to the original forms.

Belles natures
Martine Pinsolle et Ingrid Christoffels
Paintings
From June 2 to 27, 2024

We had the pleasure of welcoming back painter Martine Pinsolle, who offered sensitive and elegant depictions of nature, of the landscapes and surroundings that inspire her. She was accompanied by Ingrid Christoffels, an artist whom we were delighted to host for the very first time.

Ingrid Christoffelsvisual artist, trained at a school of Fine Arts in the Netherlands with a degree in art history. She has worked in France for 33 years; 26 years in Drôme Provençale and since 2018 in La Teste de Buch.
Comme activité secondaire, elle enseigne le yoga.
She has exhibited, installed, and performed live in several countries, including France with Renaud Capuçon and the Peristyle of the Lyon Opera. Her paintings can be found in around ten countries from Europe to Canada and the United States.

Martine Pinsolle is a French painter born in Bordeaux in 1941. She lives and works in the French Basque Country. She is the great-niece of the Charente painter Max Serge Chailloux (Saintes, 1902 – Angoulême, 1971). The main theme of her works is the human figure.
Gérard Gamand, director of the late Azart magazine, said of her (2004): There is an intense sensual jubilation in Martine Pinsolle’s painting. The strength of her line, the power of her tones, the boldness of her composition, and the accuracy of her expression captivated us. Martine Pinsolle’s work unfolds the human figure through masterful portraits, expressive bodies, and powerful group scenes. She delights in this endless saga of humanity.

Maurin Labégorre, Trois grands Aquitains
From June 3 to September 30, 2017

Hugues Maurin, Janine Maurin, Serge Labégorre: the Fonds Labégorre gallery welcomes three of the major artists of our time.
This exhibition is a major event for the young Fonds Labégorre, as these artists have left, are leaving, and will continue to leave their mark on contemporary sculpture and painting.

Abraham Hadad
From January 22 to March 19, 2016

“Despite a trying experience, Abraham Hadad’s paintings exude a great deal of gentleness. The choice of shades, the layers of color that play on juxtaposition, are so similar to enamel that they are easily mistaken for enamel.” (Marie-Pierre Letort – Sud Ouest)

Giancarlo Bargoni
From April 24 to July 19, 2015

“In his perpetual quest for depth, light, and balance, Giancarlo Bargoni seeks to ‘touch the soul through sensitivity.’ The works presented at the Fonds Labégorre share the colors of earth, fire, and sun.” (Marie-Pierre Letort – Sud Ouest)

Inaugural exhibition of the Labégorre Endowment Fund

From November 25, 2014 to April 15, 2015

The official inauguration of the Fund was marked by a major exhibition of Labégorre's contemporary works.
“Moving, magnificent and exciting, Serge Labégorre’s early works draw much of their inspiration from the southern coast of Landes, Béarn and Biarritz, lands dear to the artist’s heart.” (Carnet d’Art)
